Matt Bedinghaus, founder and CEO of A2V Partners LLC, a professional electrical engineering firm that provides a range of services to utilities and industrial clients nationwide, will serve as keynote speaker for EUCI’s training webinar on Copper-Clad Steel for Substation Grounding. The web conference will be held on December 10, 2010 from 12:00-1:30 PM Eastern Time.
Bedinghaus, a licensed professional engineer with more than 25 years of experience in the electric utility industry, was retained as a consultant for CommScope to analyze the company’s product and determine its suitability as a replacement for traditional copper grounding material. The industry is in need of a new solution because copper theft has become such a expensive problem for utility companies. Over the past few months, Bedinghaus has been evaluating the use of copper-clad steel steel as a replacement for utility grounding.
In the upcoming program, Bedinghaus will discuss his findings and the economic benefits he sees to using this material in substation grounding design.
“I plan to share my results with the webinar participants and answer their questions about my analysis and the suitability of this product,” said Bedinghaus. “We’ll discuss alternative materials for substation grounding, including copper-clad steel, and evaluate them as a response to this growing issue. In many cases, considering an alternate material that is less commonly used does not mean that sacrifices necessarily must be made.”
Attendees of this webinar are also eligible to receive 0.1 CEU credit, as authorized by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET). Early bird registration closes on December 9. Web Conference Presentations will be made available on CD. More information about this unique opportunity is available at the A2V website.
